It would be so easy to think that sticking my head in the sand is the thing to do when everything else feels so bleak. But instead, I joined almost 300 other mostly old white people in sleepy Waimea and held signs against this horrible regime.
I was really surprised by how many showed up and by the happy beeping we got from passing traffic. There was about 10% trumpers who called out bad names and flipped us off, of course, but so many more waved and honked on gave thumbs up and shakas. Yay.
I had been hoping maybe 30 people would show up so it was great to see the whole block on both sides filled up and energized. We met lots of people and they have lots of stuff planned as we figure out this new reality. I’m happy to be part of the resistance.
